Rocket science is no problem. Falling in love, on the other hand…College student Melody Gage is craving a night of no-strings fun when she meets charming out-of-towner Jeremy, and that’s exactly what she gets. Until three years later, when she relocates to Los Angeles after graduation and finds herself thrust back into his orbit.
Not only does her hunky one-night stand work at the same aerospace company where she’s just started her dream job, he’s the CEO’s son. Jeremy’s got a girlfriend and a reputation as a bad boy, so Melody resolves to keep her distance. Despite her good intentions, a series of awkward circumstances—including an embarrassing crying jag, a latte vs. computer catastrophe, and an emergency fake date—throw her together with the heavenly-smelling paragon of hotness.
As the billionaire playboy and nerdy computer whiz forge an unlikely friendship, Melody’s attraction to Jeremy grows deeper than she’s ready to admit. How much will she risk for a shot at her happy ending?
This slow burn, sweet romance is the first in a series of standalone rom-coms featuring heroines who work in STEM fields.

Basically a Netflix Rom Com in the best way
This book essentially read like a perfect romantic comedy you’d find on Netflix. Filled unashamedly to the brim with rom-com cliches, an extremely relatable main character, humor, and of course wonderfully sappy romantic declarations. I’ll also say it’s nice to find a romance book that doesn’t have anything glaringly problematic and doesn’t take itself too seriously. It was a fun and light read- I read it in less than 3 days and can’t wait to read more in the series.

I read the bonus scenes. Not sure why the author left those as “bonus scenes”. Should have just included them as part of the book. I wish there was a point of view from Jeremy. That would have made the whole book better

Such a slow book and no fire whatsoever. Most of the book is Melody thinking Jeremy doesn’t like her. So annoying

Hard pass...
This book is not a slow burn because there is absolutely no fire. Not even shouldering coals. The plot is childish and repetitive. It’s like the author was trying to write episodes of a mediocre TV young adult drama. My biggest issue is that the book is told from the third person PIV of the heroine who is super annoying. She hates her job, but won’t speak up. She wants friends, but won’t speak up. She likes the guy, but won’t speak up. We’re supposed to believe this person went to MIT? And why choose third person if we only get one POV anyway? Frankly, none of the characters were really likable. Literally every character cheated at some point. They all dated in their small friendship circle and were mad about it. They were all fake and constantly lied/denied their feelings. I won’t go on. This book is not even remedial rocket science - don’t waste your time.

I loved that it wasn’t lingering drama, nicely written and from visiting my friends in LA after college-pretty accurate on the scene there. I’d definitely will read more of her stuff.

Great read!
This book held my attention all the way through! Humor was on point, nothing forced. And not your typical billionaire meets struggling shy girl story either. The characters were lovable and they story was worth missed hours of sleep.

I loved this book so much it’s developed very nicely. I loved the process of Melody and Jeremy’s relationship wasn’t rushed because it gave them time to realize how much they liked each other. Melody’s personality was wonderful I love that she wasn’t written as a boy crazy women looking for love with a newfound career but as a strong minded woman.
